Medical

Services

The Philadelphia Safety Collaborative's on-site medical clinic is supported by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and staffed by DHS nurses. Physicians and medical staff with expertise in the child abuse field, from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, provide medical evaluations on-site five days per week.

This medical clinic is focused on evaluating children when there has been an allegation of child sexual abuse. These evaluations also allow us to screen and treat children with medical findings as a result of sexual abuse and to reassure children that their bodies are “OK.” Child abuse physicians area also able to provide courtroom testimony on the evaluations provided.

This on-site medical program helps in our goal to make the process for child victims as efficient as possible, ultimately minimizing trauma while streamlining the investigative process. Because of this expansion of our child-friendly program, PCA is now able to offer children the best medical attention available.
